Book Club September

2020 has been a historic year, for more than one reason. Aside from a global pandemic, we’ve also seen the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement in mainstream media. Our September Book Club pick is one we feel resonates strongly with the current state of the world, and country, and is one that is quite honestly, a necessary read. Education creates the strongest weapon against ignorance and racism: an informed, intelligent, and understanding response to hate.

We feel that Caste by Isabel Wilkerson is the book to read in 2020.

Join us as we read Wilkerson’s book, a deep description of the social and racial hierarchy of the United States and an explanation of our country’s history and future within a caste system.

If you read one book in 2020, let it be this one. Isabel Wilkerson, a Pultizer-Prize winning author, has created a book that is so profound and intelligent in its analysis of the structure of the United States, and how we live in an unspoken Caste system that shapes our lives every day.

For when: You want to take a deep dive into the caste construct that the US has formed and open your eyes to the secrets of American hierarchy.

Can I watch the movie?: No, but for more education we recommend 13th (Netflix), When They See Us (Netflix), or I am Not Your Negro (Amazon Prime).
